Success at South Australian Band Championships

Unley has once again defended their A Grade Concert Band title at the South Australian Band Championships with impressive scores across the section under the baton of guest conductor Robert Hower. The band performed admirably with some fine playing across all pieces.

Hymn (On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss): 44/50

Test (Suite of Old American Dances): 95/100

March (Army of the Nile): 45/50

UCB’s soloists and ensembles were also extremely successful in the solo and party contests across the weekend. Our congratulations go to the following solo and party competitors who received a win or placing in their sections:

  • Alison Harris: 1st place – Open French Horn
  • Anthony Rogers: 1st Place – Open Euphonium
  • Sarah Byron: 1st place – Open Saxophone
  • Nicole Molloy: 1st place – Open Clarinet
  • Stephen Jarman: 2nd place – Open Clarinet
  • Georga Byron: 3rd place – Open Clarinet
  • Jade McEvoy: 1st place – Open Flute
  • Sarah Butler: 1st place – Open Trumpet
  • Stephen Jarman and Nicole Molloy: 2nd place – Open Concert Duet
  • Stephen Jarman, Nicole Molloy, Andrew Heuzenroeder & Georga Byron: 1st place – Open Concert Quartet
